Movella Xsens - MVN series
Amazing Motion Capture
Motion Capture (also referred to as mo-cap or mocap) is the process of digitally recording the movement of people. It is used in entertainment, sports, medical applications, ergonomics and robotics. In film-making and game development, it refers to recording actions of actors for animations or visual effects. A famous example of a movie with lots of motion capture technology is Avatar.
MVN is a system that captures human motion through inertial sensors. Combined with wireless transmission technology, it can record and view the captured motion in real time. Subvert the problems encountered by the common optical motion capture system in the past:
The optical motion capture system needs to set up an optical lens or a tracker, and the configuration is complicated; Xsens MVN is easy to set up
The optical motion capture system needs to be within a specific range in front of the lens; Xsens MVN is not limited to a specific range
Xsens MVN is not limited by light source
The hardware configuration of the optical motion capture system is heavy and the cost is high; Xsens MVN’s single configuration cost is greatly reduced.

Motion Capture for Animation and VFX (MVN Animate)
Enjoy integration with all major 3D software packages. It can be via live connections or mocap data files, integration was never this easy! It can be used in the production of many films and other special effects. Well-known games and movies using Xsens in the production such as "The Mandalorian", "Destiny 2", "X-Men: Dark Phoenix", "Hellblade" and “Black Panther”...and more.
VR、AR、MR and Live Show (MVN Animate)
As the metaverse becomes more and more popular, live entertainment, virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and mixed reality (MR) will all become more prosperous, and virtual characters (VTuber) can be created more easily through MVN .
No matter the size of the studio, use Xsens MVN Animate to create elevating effects for 3D character animation. Whether in the studio, in the office or outdoors, the motion is clearly captured and can be streamed in real time to Unity or Unreal software, using animation to create a realistic experience that can interact with the audience.
Motion Capture for Research and Sport (MVN Analyze)
Sports Biomechanics or Sport Bio-mechanical analysis is the scientific discipline in Sport Science which studies (bio) mechanical parameters of the human movement during sports. It is based on analysis of professional athletes and sports’ activities in general, also called the Physics of sports. These studies are performed to gain greater understanding of athletic performance through measuring the human body kinematics.
Xsens’ tiny motion trackers are able to capture the smallest twitches to high dynamic movements on-body ensuring full 3D motion analysis. And its proven biomechanical model and sensor fusion algorithms ensure the highest quality motion analysis even in the most challenging magnetically disturbed environments.

Product Introduction
Hardware
Xsens MVN hardware is available in two versions:MVN Awinda and MVN Link.
MVN Awinda version uses 17 wireless sensors which are fitted on the body with adjustable straps. Its portability makes MVN Awinda ideal for use in groups and education.
MVN Link operates on 17 trackers wired sensors that are fitted on the body with a Lycra suit. It ensures even more accurate data recording and allows for a further recording range. Additionally, MVN Link features full GNSS support.
Software
Xsens MVN software is available in two versions:MVN Animate、MVN Analyze.
MVN Animate offers real-time 3D animation, graphs, data streaming, and video. The software has built-in time code and remote control plugins, handles data rates up to 158 Mb/min, and exports to formats such as ASCII (HTML), C3D, BVH, MVNX, BX, and movie containers like AVI and M4V.
Proven sensor fusion algorithms ensure the highest quality motion capture. Even in the most challenging magnetically disturbed environments. In addition, HD Reprocessing gives you the best quality motion capture data available in the market. The data is processed using our proprietary HD Reprocessing Engine and takes the motion capture data to a whole new level of accuracy and smoothness.
MVN Analyze offers real-time 3D animation, graphs, data streaming, and video. Its output supports joint angles, segment kinematics, segment global positions, and extensive sensor data.
Whether you are an expert in biomechanics, sports science, ergonomics, health or rehabilitation, what you want is reliability and accuracy of your data. Meet Xsens MVN Analyze, our proprietary full-body human motion capture system.
Successful Case
Help the Ski Jumper to Win
Ski Jumping is a unique sport. Aerodynamic movements are at the core of this sport, so it can be challenging for an athlete to visualize what actions they need to take while in the air. However, with the help of motion capture, this is easier to understand. Through the research results of MVN Analyze, it also helps to know the key to sports training.
